bigmitch Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 New to the world of Lexus as my son just bought an '04 ES330. Car has close to 90K on it and looking at doing the timing belt. Considering doing it myself as I'm an aircraft mechanic by trade and have been working on cars most of my life. Did a search and didn't really find any info on what if any special tools I might need. Also if I do it myself plan on changing the waterpump while I'm in there. Any info, insight or help you all can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Scott
lenore Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Just did this on my daughters 4.7 sequoia. Same basic engine. Use OEM parts only. Partsgeek.com has mitisubusi timing belt which is OE. I would change water pump while there. No real special tools for a DIY. need torque wrench. And way to remove crankpulley bolt. (Ihave a air gun) by the way AISIN waterpump is also an OE part...Good luck
camlex Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 When I do my 90,000 miles service on my 97 ES300, I replace TB and WP and following items: Cam seals, Crank shaft seal Spark plug seal, Spark plug, Wires if needed. (My 02 camry don't have SP wires) Intake Gasket Both valve cover Gasket Coolant hose (between Two valve cover) Please use Toyota parts. Then, Car will be ready for another 100,000. Hope that helps.
