spxChrome
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew why on my 99 ES 300 the SRS Air Bag light would be flashing in the console. It does this about 90%of the time. Sometimes is stays off like normal but mostly it just flashes on and off. It started doing this about 15K miles ago. I am having problems with the driver's seat belt retracting and didn't know if the two were related. There has been no other changes to the car, like hiting a big pot hole or curb. Just started out of no where. thanks in advance.
PaulWales
There may be an intermittent fault with your system. I know on the LS400 The airbag system works in conjunction with the two front seat belt pretensioners. On Mercedes cars these need to be replaced once activated it may be the same on Lexus cars too- however the restraint system usually only works once the sensors on the vehicle sense a force the same or greater than a predetermined force for instance in a head on collision and shouldn't be activated with normal day to day driving have this checked out by a specialist. steviej
The flashing SRS light means the seat belt pretensioners fail. It is related to the seat belt not retracting. Get it looked at now, not after an accident. It may be as simle as a wire or a spring in the catch mechanism. steviej
