IMHO, "Defog" uses the A/C to cool the air, extract humidity, then reheat it and make it dryer, so as to absorb the humidity ('fog') on the inside of the windshield. To "Defrost", you must turn off the A/C (which probably turns 'on when you press the front window Defog/defrost button) and this will allow heated air to hit the inside of the windshield, heating the glass so that frost (or ice or snow) melt on the outside. Lexus recommends turning temp to "hi" when defrost is needed, but after a short while it is too much heat in the cabin and I then turn it down to the temp. I want. dice
I have a similar problem. The mode switch, which changes where where the air is routed, does not seem to work. I only get air through the front defrost vents. Changing the mode does not redirect the air flow. Is that a fuse or is it some kind of a vacuum hose leak that is not allowing the internal vent doors to open or close?

I will definitely have to fix before winter. Any suggestions?? No air blows on windshield when in defrost.
LEXIRX330
If is possible that the servo motor is bad are you hearing a clicking noise??? Do the other modes all work? If not the motor could be bad? Try looking at these...may help. http://www.lexusownersclub.com/search.php?cx=partner-pub-0521093335491635%3Abe501w6b38z&cof=FORID%3A10&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Servo+motor+rx&sa=Search

Pull the cover off below the passengers legs and then you should be able to see the Air mix servo that changes the modes. If you want a really good look at it, pull the glove box assembly out. It's easy and you have a lot better look that way. The air mix servo should move each time you change a mode position. Likely that's the problem, it's not able to move the "door" to direct the air to the W/S.
