  1. Dimsboy...what lesson has he learned? If you knew the way insurance worked why did you say "why does he have to pay out of his own pocket? isn't it the purpose of buying full coverage insurance is to cover everything? doesn't matter who drives it, as long the car is insured." I am glad you know some adjusters, and a owner of a body shop! Here is my virtual pat on the back! :D :D Maybe you should ask some of the adjusters about these types of claims... it was for the other guy who said he should pay out of his own pocket, and no I'm not owner of the shops, just my good friends are.
  2. well if you ALSO had read my post, I did said "It's wrong and I belive he learned a lesson". Not really defending him just want you guys to give him break as he seen enough lectures from this post. As for understanding how insurance work, i do know a thing or two. My very long time friends from high school partner together and open 3 body shops in SF and oakland CA called "Franklin Autobody over 8 yrs ago and belive me I hung out there long enough and talked to enough adjusters thats running in and out everyday. hey if you wanna get some bodywork done or talk to few adjuster about how insurance work, stop by lol http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...=11&iwloc=A
  3. Lecture...I wish some of your parents would have given you a lecture on morals, or ethics or maybe just made you earn a dollar Being a chinese immigrant myself from 1990 <just missed the big quake lol>, I was working since 15 with my school permit cause i wanted alot of things but my parent can't afford <nikes, clothes, pagers, CDs>, bought my first car for 2k <1982 VW jetta> at 1993. Did all the repair with my dad, taking trips to junk yards for parts. Now 14 yrs later I bought my parent 02 rx300 at 2003, myself a 06 GS350 <used> and a 97 pathfinder for commute, and a proud 50/50 partner in a litigation imaging company. So spare me from your statement. Thank you!
  4. ooohhh, my bad I read it wrong. did the button lit up after you pressed it? if not check the fuse, you should hear a clicking noise from under the steering wheel when you press it.
  5. "You are a shining example of why this world is in the mess that it is- " If I am the shining example of the world, it would be in a much better place and alot of happy parents. "Thanks to her son, when she eventually gets caught she no longer will be able to say that she didn't realize it made any difference who had the accident." "His parents don't have the same luxury, and are being hung out to dry by the kid they've tried so hard to protect." I am sure his parent aware of the consequences. "Come on Troll...are you the self-proclaimed Guardian of the Idiots?" I hate Idiots, but I understand this situation. "Matter of fact, we can judge based on nothing whatsoever in this country" lol... I knew I'm gonna get flame for this, but just like everyone here. I got the URGE TO SAY SOMETHING haha! if yall feel SOoooo offended by this, report to the insurance then, "DO THE RIGHT THING" RIGHT?
  6. why does he have to pay out of his own pocket? isn't it the purpose of buying full coverage insurance is to cover everything? doesn't matter who drives it, as long the car is insured. yes he made a mistake allowing his mother to take the blame, and yes that's wrong and I belive he learned a lesson. But his not like many other pplz made claim from nothing, like scracth their own car and jack their own car...etc Give him a break! and also to everyone who've posted a lecture to him, I hope you never done anything wrong in your life, and did everything by the BOOK! or else you have no rights to judge his family. If your mother might lose her license over this would you have done the same for her?
  7. man, talking about right timing. I was just about to ask to see if there are heated nozzle or DIY stuffs I can do to help with my freezing windshield washer, just went to squaw valley and driving to reno at night with 17 degrees out is scary, my nozzle froze up and my new michelin wiper almost cause me an accident as it smears my windshield and the only thing I can see is the tailight from the SUV in front of me! the wipers are really good in 36+ degrees with light rain, but when it gets real cold it's a disaster. BTW, i was stuck for 2 hrs on the way up and saw a car crushed into weird shapes then later on when I check in at gran sierra hotel the clerk told me it was an fatal accident, and this was on friday 12/19 around 9pm. SCARRY STUFF!
  8. it should do the trick pretty much after 30 sec, maybe you should check the freon. does your AC work?
  9. yeah did some reading around this forum and found many liked the Alenza, I just came back tonight from reno/squaw valley trip, went from rain to snow to ice. Although my tires handles better than I thought but I felt my tires are at the verge of slipping, and I'm only following other SUVs so definitely getting new tires after new years before my next trip to squaw valley. LTX MS and Alenza seems to go equal in performance, but the Alenza's 65k warranty & quiter road noise seems to worth the extra $$ over LTX. What about the Michelin Latitude tour, anyone have any experience with them?
  10. Usally right after placerville and at the foot of the mountain they have a check stop for AWD, rarely require chain. but yes, I show pay attention to that which why i mention I take some trips to tahoe, i know I cant get it all in 1 set of tires but I want the best for my application. any views on the michelin latitude?
  11. it started rainning hard last week and I was driving home from work, i noticed my still decent thread continental with 20k ish miles just WONT GRIP on 20 miles wide turn, it felt like I was driving on a patch of ice, i don't remember my OEM tires had that problems, in fact even during summer if I took a turn on to highway a little faster the tire starts to squeak where my oem tires don't sound that high pitch. so I'm gonna take up the $60 rebate from michelin and trying to shop tires in the next week or 2, Costco has michelin LTX/MS and the Latitude Tour, the latitude Tour seems more agressive "looking" threads but then again I am no expert. So which would guys would choose base on your experience? i also takes about 6-8 trips to snowboard from SF - lake tahoe during the winter.
  12. I was waiting for someone to ask about my projector headlights ;) Well i've got an update. I took the car to my autobody shop, and they said they could do one of two things. 1- re-align the door so it closed properly so it wouldn't leak, patch up the hole so water didn't get in, find used moldings and repaint and throw them on, for $800 out of pocket. 2- have my go through insurance, replace both front + rear doors, all new moldings, paint both doors, blend into the front fender and rear 1/4 panel, patch up and paint door jams, replace and paint the mudflap and help me out with my deductible. We chose option number 2. My mom also called the insurance co and told them that she was out shopping in the car (it's under her name after all) and came out to the damage, implying it was a hit and run. Advantage of this would be that it leaves me and my bad record out of the situation so i won't get dropped, and the rates wouldn't be as high. My body shop is going to send a little money our way too if they get enough from the insurance. I left the car there tonight, the insurance guy is going to go over the car with them tomorrow. He's already ordered the parts, told me in a week- a week and a half it should be done :) I'm excited!!! dude you got the BEST HID mods I've seen on the net, I was out of town when u had the headlight on ebay or else it would be MINE!!! lol now I'm frustrated to get it done. we should talk man! haha
  13. NP! I'll be just as happy as you are if they do make sway bar for rx300, we're probably the few that asked for it lol. I remember when I was in hong kong 2 years ago I do see few harriers with metal bars in front and back, I ask one of them and he said the shop took from another product and did custom fabrication but I'll email my friend's too about it. maybe you had seen this, but kinda expensive http://www.eautoworks.com/search-RX300/mk37-ba52.htm If tom's makes a sway bar for it with my soon michelin latitude tires, I think my suv will handles great for its class. But still working on my HID solutions though...
  14. i saw the same car too on cardomain, he never replies. Right now I'm asking some friends in taiwan and hong kong to see if they got anything.
  15. man that sucked! I've been reading your posts about HIDs, wanna sell your housing? lol
