maria g Posted December 6, 2008 Share Posted December 6, 2008 Lexus sc400 starts no problem. Once on the road no problem. Until! when reaching a stop sign/light the car will not move!!! It will still be on (in drive), the rpms go up when gas is pressed but won't budge...what the??? Had to park it, wait, and it works again. Please help if this has happened to you before. TXSC3 Posted December 6, 2008 Share Posted December 6, 2008 When it does move does it ever feel like all of the power the engine is making is not getting to the wheels? If so the torque convertor might be at fault. If you take it to a shop make sure they agree with you on a price to just diagnose it. Cottman transmission is run by crooks that will disassemble the whole transmission, diagnose it, and then say "well...we have it all out and ready to fix so it will cost you xxxx to fix it but we can put it back in the car for xxx" xxxx =ed $3100 in my MR2 xxx would have cost $1200 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Both times it was a dirty transmission filter. $24 for the filter at any auto parts plus 5 qts of Type 4 ATF from Toyota. Works fine. sc300newbe Posted December 8, 2008 Share Posted December 8, 2008 dose it move when you manualy shift it from first to second. if so then more than likely is is just a couple of solenoids in the transmission which can be easly changed. if it still dose not move then i would think clogged filter or torque converter.
