  1. Sid, looking online it seemed like Westside had some hybrids listed. Are you going with them, by chance? Maybe they are sold and the website doesn't show it? Long wait times up here in DFW also.
  2. Thanks for sharing, Dave. I understand the older models with the v-6 engine has a great track record. MY concern is this new model now has a new 2.4L engine which is going to make more noise and sans electric boost, will likely be a slower performing car. It's going to feel and sound different than your V-6...will it bug me? And yes...the mileage IS fantastic!
  3. My car was totaled so now I'd like to consider a new RX350h hybrid. The Lexus dealer claims they don't sell very many of them so am wondering why? Is it simply availability or are buyers looking for other technology? A puzzled buyer here....
  4. Car has been sitting for 3months and engine won't start. Battery good, turns over fine, can hear fuel pump working, all fuses and relays check to be OK, obd2 port says can't read data and there's no fire at a spark plug. Can't find ECU...has it failed?
  5. Can I ask why you want to replace them? I've been an audiophile for years and have owned multi thousand dollar home audio systems all that time. I have never heard a better sounding car audio system then the ML one in my Lexus. I don't think you can find any replacement speakers that will improve the sound. I want to modify mine 'cuz of the muffled sound. Maybe it's my ears, but the "highs" are not high enough and it seems the mid-range sound is overwhelming to my ears. I have a hard time understanding the Bluetooth phone as well. Could another equilizer help? I have mine set to max high frequency and still no good. Any ideas?
  6. LX470, 2006 model. Has anyone been able to modify the sound coming out of these muffled speakers? I'm looking for a brighter (more highs) sound and the stereo shop guy said I'd need to remove the whole thing and install his completely new system. Sounds like Ripoff City to me! :(
  7. I'm trying to defeat the lock-out so that my wife can watch a DVD while driving. Anybody got the secret to doing this?
  8. Jim, I'd say that's spectacular. I think the oil's the key here...and then give yourself a little credit for the light throttle? I'm wondering if Toyota approves of this weight oil in their engines? I mean, we could prob. add some kerosene to lighten the viscosity, but I'm sure they'd look at that with disdain.
  9. I bought a 1999 smokey Topaz LX new 7 yrs. ago and have had the paint peeling and clear coat fogging issue for the past 3-4 yrs. Today I traded it for a 2006 model. The salesman told me they only used that color in 99 and 00, probably because of the paint issues. So it's no secret that color is problematic. I'd recommend you avoid it and find another color. As for the car, I ran it 140K and only put two sets of rear brakes on it. That's all. Bullet-proof car as far as I'm concerned. That's why I bought another one.
  10. What about applying some of that clear sheet protector material like you'd use on your PDA to protect it's screen? Seems like that might keep the anti-glare material from wearing off.
  11. OK, so what's the deal on this new tranny with the non-replaceable fluid and no dipstick? It's supposed to be good for 100K miles, but what to do after that? Sounds like trade-in time, so is this really progress?
  12. I have a 1999 model and have religuosly kept track of every gallon I've put into that car(87 octane) Avg. mpg has been 15 in winter and 14 in summer with A/C on, stretching over 6 years. Over the past few months it has dropped down to 13 and was told by my service guy it is likely the 15% ethanol blend in today's gasoline. I know ethanol is a little lower in btu content, but was surprised at that much difference. So not only do we pay more/gallon, it doesn't get us as far. BUMMER! I still love the car! Two months ago I decided to try 93 octane and saw no difference from 87 octane but the performance seemed better. Not sure I can justify the added expense this way. Back to 87 octane for me..... PS....Someone please explain to me why adding another tank would improve fuel efficiency.
