yes, that sounds like a trunk wiring problem. I haven't experienced it myself but from what I've read, odd electrical issues can be traced back to this issue.

I had the same problem. In my case I had a burned out break light. The contacts on the bulb had melted and when I stepped on the break the bulb would short and overload the system. Replaced the bulb and all was well.
