Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I own a 92 ES300.

Recently, I discover that when I turn my steering a little bit trying to turn my car a little bit the car seems NOT responding(Turn that little bit) immediately. I need to turn the steering quite a bit more to make the car actually do a turn. Besides, after turning a corner, my steering NOT backing to the original center position, say if I draw a "Red arrow" pointing the 12:00 position before doing a turn, after doing a right turn, my steering just returning to a position that the arrow pointing the 2:00 rather than back to 12:00.

I got a new steering pump and all bushes of the front and back wheels are new as well as the tires.

My local auto shop say I need to replace my steering mount rack and pioion(<-something spell like that sorry I forgot the correct spelling). They quote me a price around $800 to fix that. However, they claim that there is "only a touch" on the rack which they think NOT worth to spend $800 to fix that.

However, a steering and suspension specialist shop claim that my mount rack not as bad as the auto shop claim, they claim all I need is only a steering bush, as my bush is damage excessively which cause my whole rack shaking when turn and also cause my steering not back to the normal position. The bush cost around $50 but the labour will need another $230.

My local auto shop seems quite honest on this matter however, the steering and suspension specialist shop's claim also seems reasonable.

So anyone got any idea on this matter? As the problem already giving me quite a lot of trouble.

Thanks in advance.

You've seen 2 doctors, got 2 opinions, and now you need to see a 3rd doctor to see which one is correct. You'll be able to make a better decision after you've heard doctor number three's diagnosis. Let's hope he agrees with the lesser of the two quotes! Good Luck!
