gordonw Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Lexus does NOT sell radar/jammer detectors. They are illegal in most states. Its obvious its something your dealer is selling on its own.
Woodbadger Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Radar DETECTORS are legal for private vehicle use in TExas, but are ILlegal for use by commercial vehicles. Radar JAMMERS are illegal in Texas. There are no TX state laws against LASER jammers, but they appear to violate Federal statutes. The FCC has started fining the manufacturers of Radar jammers so there appears to be some Fed problems now. Summary of state laws
nomad2009 Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 The unit is called Calibre, has anyone heard of this? It sounds too good to be true, I would love to kick "the mans !Removed!" with this unit ists hidden. They guarantee if you get a ticket they will pay it?

Hard to imagine a Lexus dealer endorsing this and then guaranteeing it. Or are you saying it's a manufacturer's guarantee?
bartkat Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Here's the Calibre web page. http://www.k40.com/home_main.html

The dealer is most likely selling their radar/laser detector system. Radar/laser detectors are legal in all states except for D.C. and Virginia. Laser and radar jammers are illegal in Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC. If the dealer is indeed selling the Calibre laser jammer system, you should find out if that particular system will cause a jam code in the police laser guns. If the cops get a jam code, you are in a heap of trouble.

bartkat Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I don't know if it ever came to market but Uniden introduced a GPS with built in radar detector last December. http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/27/uniden-...etector-at-ces/
nomad2009 Posted June 14, 2008 Author Posted June 14, 2008 i know the older gen of LS have built in radar dect from LEXUS. my friend has one. its pretty cool. it is flush in to the dash. This one is bluetooth and is installed on all sides. It is hidden too. Its radar laser and jammer. I am going to shop around 1500 is expensive especially if its bluetooth, they dont have to wire it around the car they do have to remove the dash panel . Im not sure I can do it myself I would hate to damage my car.
Normandg Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I have a Valentine 1 and I love it. It does not have bluetooth. I live in Virginia where radar detectors are illegal. I have my V1 mounted in a pouch on the driver’s side visor. There is a small opening, facing the front, cut for the detector to pick up laser signals. Radar passes through the pouch material. I don’t need to see the detector to know when there is an issue down the road. I can tell you that, in my opinion, the V1 is the best detector sold. It has saved me more than once. Owning a detector does not keep you from getting caught. You still need to use the one that God gave you. If you get over confident then you will get burnt. Normandg
