backwoods lex Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 With gas prices getting so high, and after putting 120K (at leat) on my old plugs, I'd like to replace them ASAP. Right now and in the immediate future, I will be very tight on cash and would like to purchase the less expensive platinum plugs from walmart. I know that iridium plugs are reccomended, but they are out of my range right now. My question is what can I expect from platinum plugs? Will the engine develop a miss or act up? Anyone have experience on this (not including the 4 or 2 tipped Bosch plug-just regular platinum). I tried a search but couldn't find any info on what performance I could expect from it. Thanks guys!

Lexus does not even use iridum plugs from the factory...NGK plugs will work fine for $2 each.
Lexusfreak Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 If you go with Platinum plugs.....go with NGK or Denso plugs.....stay away from Bosch. Might want to go to www.sparkplugs.com to get an idea of prices.....very good site. It's interesting, my 2001 ES came factory equipped with iridium's.

I get iridiums for the normal everyday price...I am going back to normal plugs since iridiums is for longevity and that is it.
