Es300 Electrical Short: Any Suggestions?

Folks, I have a 1993 ES300 that appears to have an electrical short. The 10A Gauge fuse blew. I tried replacing it and it immediately blew again. I have tried tracing the red/blue wire from the alternator thru the engine compartment but can't find the short. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the problem?

I'm not sure if this is related, but after a short while of running the vehicle with the fuse blown (since I had to get home) the alternator died. I removed it and took it into a parts shop and they tested it and confirmed that it did not have the required output. I replaced the alternator but still have the fuse/short problem. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

If you know there is a problem with the gauge cuircit then you have to start there.

You may have a water leak causing a short in the dash.

You have to spend some good cash for a tech to trace and test the wires by the shop rated hour.

Disconect your Alternator wires. Do continueity check on your the fuse slot, and then reconnect your alternator and redo continueity check again. If you got different result on continueity check then your problem is from alternator, otherwise, it's not.
