SJ2355 Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 So fellas....do we have any update ( i mean facts ) that the is300 tranny is weak ? The only thing thats holding me back to get this car is the tranny. I now own 300zx and I dont need another car that cost too much to maintain. : :D Thanks fellas
bartkat Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 What do you mean by weak? Some people have had some shifting problems, and you can tear the trans and clutch up by racing a lot or boosting too much. Overall though I think it's ok.
SJ2355 Posted December 2, 2003 Author Posted December 2, 2003 I asked because i read some of the earlier post and some people stated that their tranny wouldnt last pass 30k. is it because they are pushing it over 300hp. I do believe that stock motor ... the tranny will hold up pretty well. Plus i dont smash my gears all day long. I hardly even gun it.
bartkat Posted December 2, 2003 Posted December 2, 2003 Normal driving with mostly stock motor, the trans should do just fine.
langsta143 Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 my is300 is an auto..but i wanna change it to stick...do u know any good tranny that i can get..and how much it would cost me
OneHotLexus Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 So all ya'll saying that the IS300 tranny cannot hold anymore horsepower than stock???? You have to be kidding me. The SC300 has the same motor and the stock tranny can hold up to around 500 hp. Please someone tell me, how much hp can the stcok tranny hold??
bartkat Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 I don't think we all said anything of the kind. But we are talking manual trans here.. Right?
Gr8JuliusCaesar Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 yeah i wanted to switch my tranny from auto to manual anybody have some advice
bartkat Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 I've read some post on swtching trans on another forum. Most people don't think it's worth it. It might be if you were going to build like a monster 500 HP car, but probably not worth the cost and effort on a daily driver.
