Dr Tweak Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Just kidding :) This SC400 is getting a swap from a 2JZ Aristo and is staying automatic. First I just cleaned up the engine bay and removed all the junk in my way, and taped off the intake and turbo ports: Then I installed the plug and play harness. I decided to use heat-reflective wrap to protect it where it goes between the firewall and the engine: More updates will be posted soon :)

I thought taking the electronics off would be a good idea before giving the manifold a bath in the parts washer :D Cleaned up and put back together: Installed. Also built a custom bracket to hold the power steering resevoir in place here. When the car came to me the hydraulic fan for the SC400 was missing, and he wanted to use the Aristo hydralic fan. Since the housing didn't quite line up to the SC400 radiator, I had to weld up some custom brackets. Cleaned up the shroud a bit too. Custom p/s line: Custom fuel line:
Dr Tweak Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 The oil return lines were damaged when the car came in, so I made a new one: Mocking up the intercooler piping: Started it up! Just need to finish up a few things before it's ready to hit the road.
JIBBBY Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 It's nice, but I would never swap a 2jz into an SC400... Why you ask? The original early model 1uz-fe V8's are an outstanding motor and can handle upto 500whp..The automatic transmissions are the achillies heal of the SC400's.. So a 2jz mated with the SC400 automatic tranny just doesn't make sense to me... Those automatic trannies snap and give up the ghost around 350-400whp.. I know because I blew mine twice already... The 2jz motor when boosted just starts to warm up around those power levels... I would consider the 2JZ in an SC300 manual...Still you would need to swap in the V160, or R154 trannies to support the big power... The 2JZ's are a bit gutless at launch which most people don't know and or consider.....The only negative to the 2jz's...However, they do flow well though when the rpms get moving...
