Timing Belt And Chain... Thuoghts?

Hey whats up again.. I was looking to buy a new timing belt.. Im almost at my 90k.... Everyone is talking about how much it is to change.. but look at this web site... This is cheap isnt it??? This is all you need to change it right?? Timing belt and chain???

They aren't expensive. www.rockautoparts.com has a Gates timing belt for $20, and a Dayco tensioner for $37. I think when people were talking about how much it cost to have it done, they were talking about labor prices, if you pay to have it done by a shop. Good luck!

Its the labor that cost the big bucks... and maybe the water pump... the belt itself isn't so much unless you're buying it from the dealer or getting a kevlar belt like this one...

That HKS belt is a nice one. My buddy runs an HKS belt on his Mitsubishi Evolution II (600WHP) and it takes quite a bit of abuse as far as timing belts go. But for a daily driver, and even mildly modified, I wouldn't see the need for a belt like that. Gates makes damn fine belts as well.
