freeman
Need some advice. I got a pricing for a 08 IS350 w/Luxury Package with 18-in wheels with additional options. Includes 18 inch wheels, voice activated DVD, intuitive parking assist, headlamp washers and the preferred accessory package(includes cargo net, trunk mat, and wheel locks). MSRP is 44,342, this includes the $7,672.00 for the Luxury plus package. They quoted me a cost of $41,800.00. Also, i'm planning on trading in my car. What do you think about this initial offer? This looks like a pretty good deal given that they are taking off $2542. Edmond's is quoting around $44K. Also, if this is a 07, would this be a good deal? The only bad thing is it doesn't include the upgraded radio. Is the stock radio decent? Thanks.
bartkat
I think the stock radio is just fine for most people. It suits me fine. The key to your pricing is how much are they giving you for your trade in. The difference that you pay is the main point, not just the price of the new car. Edmunds may not have enough data to show acurate "TMV" prices yet for the '08 model year, so they will show it as around MSRP. Shop it around. For an '07, entering into the 'December to Remeber' event, I woudln't think that's a very good deal at all. I would have guessed you could get invoice or below on an '07. My trade-in is about $16K with $4K still left over. I doubt they will give me full value, but i will at a minimum go 50-50. If that is the case, then it would be around $8k. If it is an 07, then like you said i will try to get it close to invoice. If it is an 08, i'm not sure how much room they are going to negotiate given the car just came out, plus stock seems to be very limited in my area according to the Internet. I didn't see what you're trading but if it's in excellent condition you should try to get blue book top wholesale for it. If it's another brand maybe $1000 or so less. Craig F
The key is to negotiate the trade in and the purchase separately. If they just give you an out-the-door number and tell you that's with the trade in, you don't know what your discount is vs. the trade-in's value. Negotiate a price on the car, then negotiate a value on the trade-in. Then, shop around for both.
freeman
Well, I picked up my baby(08 IS 350) today and it is sweet, sweet, sweet. I got $2542 off of MSRP; which isn't bad considering that there are not many IS350 in this area and the ones that are priced out of my option. Also, Kelly Blue Book givens an invoice of $40K for configured car. I'm pretty sure that as the year progresses, the prices will come down. I only wanted the Nav system, plus I got the Luxury package with the 18" wheels. Not good for winter(snow), but I don't mind because i dont intend to drive this thing in the snow, especially in DC/MD/VA. Also, the stock radio system is perfect for me. The V6 engine is awesome to say the least. I'm not a racer, and don't care to race, but I like to have immediate power and this car gives immediate power no matter what gear you in. The color for my car is Tungsten Pearl. Because I live in the DC, the taxes are kicker. Also, the insurance is kicker also, but not too bad. I consider myself blessed to be able to pay for this. For people who can afford this car, it is nice, but if you worried about cost, then steer clear. When you start adding options the price balloons and for me I'm not about to pay for a $50K+ car. The following is what was included: Headlamp washers, Luxury Package includes 18" wheels,HID(AFS),Heat/Vent Seats,Perforated Leather Upgrade, wood interior, power Tilt/Telescoping Steering wheel, etc. Nav system, intuitive parking, and Preferred Accessory Package. The MSRP is 44,342 and this includes $765 dealer fee. I also traded in a car and got $10K for it. The only problem i have is birds. Time i parked my car, a bird decides to crap on it.
