LinuxFan Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 When the radio is turned on the antenna comes up. After it has stopped, the grinding begins and no physical movement is being shown on the antenna so it leads me to conclude this is happening on something internally. Any suggestions? This is on a 1990 LS400. Thanks in advance for your help/thoughts/input.
SKperformance Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 there is a nylon inner mast which has teeth for the ant the motor turns to move it up or down it sounds like the mast broke and is ust spinning its wheel on the last tooth but it can't get it to full height do a seach for instructions on ant removal and replacement easy job to do
LinuxFan Posted September 9, 2003 Author Posted September 9, 2003 I was dreading this option. I have already looked into the removal process but was hoping I would not have to replace this hardware. :( Thanks for your response.
SKperformance Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 actually it is real easy to change about 10 minutes total
LinuxFan Posted September 9, 2003 Author Posted September 9, 2003 It is not the changing it part that disappoints me. It is the fact that I have to get a new one. I was positioning myself to take it out and fiddle with it and bingo -- all is well. But that is not the case and so I am a bit disappointed. thanks again :D
LS400er Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 LinuxFan, can you describe how to remove the Antenna ? I have the same problem with my 95 LS. Any idea on the pricing of the parts ? Thanks in advance.
LinuxFan Posted September 10, 2003 Author Posted September 10, 2003 Here you go... It is instructions on how to replace the antenna with a generic one, which we are not interested in, but they have to remove it to do that and they tell you how. So it works. :D I am looking but have not found anything as far as price goes as yet...as soon as I do I will post it. I plan to fiddle with it a bit first, so I can see how it is made up and go from there. Wish you luck...and taking some for myself too. ;)
SKperformance Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 the mast is around 30-40 most all toyotasfrom the 90's use the same power one
