DB82 Posted August 8, 2007 Share Posted August 8, 2007 Hey all, First post here and unfortunately its something I wish I didn't have to ask. I have a 2007 IS 250, got it about a month ago. This weekend I had a BBQ and was showing some of my friends the car. A friend of mine was sitting in the drivers seat looking around, smoking a cigarette. I occasionally smoke in the car but I try to be as careful as possible. We'll my friend burned a little portion of the cloth/leather (I don't know exactly what material) that is between the driver's side door and the windshield. It is that little strip in between the two. I attached a pic, they aren't great quality (camera phone) but it'll give a general idea of what I'm talking about. So now I need everyones helps: 1) What are the ways I can get this fixed? There really isn't a whole but more just the darker burnt color. I'd like to at least cover it up bc I have to see it when I'm driving and its really bugging me! 2) Are there any products I could use to protect that area from another silly accident? As for a product, well if its just the color that has been affected then some goof off may take it out, dont use too much and clean it up with a clean damp rag after. Of course there is always the safer alternative of not smoking in your car and you'll never have to ever worry about this ever again, but what do I know, I'm only 22. LEXIRX330 Posted August 8, 2007 Share Posted August 8, 2007 I am a former smoker so I won't lecture you about smoking in your car...it is your car and you are paying for it...and you are paying the taxes on the cigarettes too. But for what it is worth quitting was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Now far as that *** burn goes...try some goof off as said or just plain carpet cleaner. If it did not burn much maybe you can just scrub it out. My first car that I owned someone plucked a cigarette out of the window and guess what??? I found it on my back seat. I was able to clean the burn up pretty good and found some carpet paint/stain that I was able to cover it up with...you may be able to get by with just scrubbing it....good luck and sorry man it sucks! Thanks for the info(and congrats on quitting). I'm lucky that it seems like a pretty small burn and not really a hole. I'll try the goof off and see what it does. The company was called Karcraft but I think they are out of business...or at least I have not seen any of their products in along time. I got it from a car dealership that is who supplied them with the carpet paint.
