Hey all,

Im new to LOC and I have some questions. I just got an 04 Is300 sport design TCM eshift. dont mind the noob questions please i dont know as much about cars as I wish i did. I was looking to do some suspension work first. I was thinkin about gettin some new springs and I was wondering why most springs have more of a drop in the rear? Also on a nother note for CAI, with the exception of the SRT with ECU is there really a big difference between lets say AEM and a generic name brand intake found on the net? again sorry to be sucha noob but I have to learn somehow.

thanks Jcole

Winter Garden huh? Winter Park here.

Welcome to the LOC.

I'm not sure what your refering to about the suspension being more of a drop in the rear than the front. Do you mean why do people have or like that set up??? What is it that you would like to do with a new suspension? Do you want to lower it, or replace the stock suspension and maintain stock specs?

As for the CAI. The SRT comes with a piggy back chip that you solder in to the ECU. As far as I am aware they are the only ones. the rest of them are only intake systems. As for going generic, that may or may not be a head ache you may not want to deal with. I would use a name with a proven background. K&N, Injen, SRT, and a few others. Some people say that the cold air intakes don't do anything for the IS300's though. SO you might wanna wait till you find out more before you go out and get one. I have a brand new K&N Typhoon in the garage I was going to put on, but I have decided to go supercharged, so I was going to sell it. If later you decide you still want to go with a CAI, let me know if your interested. I'll sell ya mine.

But to answer your question, they all perform about the same. I think it's more about fit and quality. K&N is the only one I know have that comes with a Dyno sheet to show performance. I guess that made it worth more to me.

Hey thanks, Um yea possibly if it will be around for a while ill PM if i get some money soon. but its doubtful. as for what i was saying--- I was saying how come most of the springs I see online for sale are 1" drop in the front and 1 1/2" in the back. Is that not normal or did i miss something in that>? wouldnt you want the front of the car to be lower than the back of the car? or is the front of the car lower to begin with and i guess maybe that makes it level? i dunno

Congrats on your new ride :)

I have the same car. 2004 SportDesign TCM E-Shift but mine has navi.

Curious, how much did you buy it for and with how many miles? Also, did you get it from Lexus or private party?

Is it the stock nav with the joy stick thing?

Oh ok, yes, the stock set up is 7 1/2 inches in the front and 8 inches in the rear. Generally, when you lower it, like I did 1", you want it to be more level. If you want to see for yourself, measure the well behind the front tire to the ground. Now go to the rear and measure the well in front of the rear tire. Should be a half inch differrence. If you want to maintain that 1/2 inch, you can easily adjust most suspension kits to maintain that offset if you want.
