chotu21
Need help! I have a 99 GS400 and was looking at getting rims...my freind wants me to go with 19's but I feel more comfortable with 18's (live in Wash DC). Was wondering if 19's will fit perfectly with little or no rubbing and Im sure its going to affect the ride comfort but drastically? I'm getting a good deal on the 19" rims so I was considering it. Also, if I get wheels, Im thinking about droping the ride. Any remarks as to why I shouldnt? And if I do, which springs should I go with? Adjustable? And which brand? Thanks! deadsexy
Man, 20"s will fit fine on the GS WITH lowered suspension...as long as you dont get too wide of a wheel. stick with a 20 by 8.5" and a 30 or 35 series tire and you will be perfectly fine.. 18"s just look toooo small on that car (IMHO) found this picture on the site.... djspawn00
don't forget about the offset, 19's should work but IMHO it makes the ride harsh and lowering would make me worry more than its worth... I live in NY where potholes eat cars.... and the occasional homeless person. 2-'s look wrong... again just my opinion.
deadsexy
i guess its all about personal preference, Im going for more of a VIP style look which means an aggressive fitting wheel and suspension setup (airbags) You got a lot to play with when it comes to the offset on these cars... ive seen some pretty crazy lips on em on quite a few occasions... found on vipstylecars.com:
CarbonGS
yes it is all about the offsets! you can run some 18"s that look awesome with the right offset. i went with 20"s on mine with a 37+offset up front and 35+ offset in the rear. had to cut out the fenders in the rear to fit it but it rides great with my kyb and eibach combination. 18"s were american racing casinos and were +40 offset all around. it was very non aggressive. a lot of gap since i had not lowered the car. and look in the rear. see how the wheel sits inside the wheel well? that is because of the + offset being higher. 20"s here i am on the EXE Konvex with 35+ in the rear and 37+ in the front. see the difference? i also lowered the car. offsets play a large roll. you can get a wide variety of 19"s as well but the issue there is tire pricing. tires are generally more expensive and less available as far as sizes are concerned. you either have to go with one size or another. not many choices. CarbonGS
^oh and i made a lot more changes in between the pics so that's why the car looks different
