Petrolatum In Tire Dressing

i just noticed my tire dressing, which i use for the stripping around the window to dampen the wind noise, has petrolatum. did someone mention that petroleum degrades rubber?

does the meguire tire endurance contain no petroleum?

i don't think there is a petroleum base int he tire dressing

did you buy one of those one step spray and walk away dressings?

rather than one you have to wipe on?

no, it's squeeze and wipe. it definitely says on there petrolatum.

does this mean i have to find one that doesn't have petrolatum? the shops around here for some reason don't have a whole lot of variety.

ok, it's definitely a no, no on the petroleum derivatives on rubber, vinyl and leather.

this guy actually recommends water based dressing instead of silicone

the petroleum base is used to disolve dirt on tires to mak ethe dressing stick

the main ingredient for the spray on ones

the one i have that is a spray ( free from a car show) uses acetone

just use silicone instead or look on the label of the dressings for one that dont use petroleum.it does disolve dirt and probably would eventully do more damage then good on the seals.
