acf Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 I assume you cannot say...put 17" tires on 16" rims? They have to match?
SKperformance Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 you are right the rim diameter and the inside bead diameter of the rim have to match or else it will not seat to hold the air in
acf Posted September 1, 2003 Author Posted September 1, 2003 Thanks, but I could go wider though right? I'm gonna have to get new tires in a few thousand miles and I think the car would look a little better with bigger/wider tires if possible.
SKperformance Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 going up one ratio is usually no problem if it says 215/60 16 then go to a 225/55 16 just ask the tire shop for a best fit on sizes that is only an example for a width change
JDOwen2 Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 Years ago a friend of mine had a 70 something 429 Ford. He put new tires on it and had one hell of a time getting one tire off. It was a 14" tire mounted on a 15" rim :o .
