Defective Radiator & Vsc Warning

Recommended Posts

I have only owned my 2007 IS250 for 6 months and it is the shop for the 3rd time! The 1st time was after 2 months, the car was pulling to the left or floating on straight smooth highways. After awhile it got worse so the dealership rebalanced the tires, rotated etc. Everything seemed fine until month 4 I noticed there was a creaking noise coming from the front wheel whenever I would make turns. Creak started to get worse, brought the car back in. Techs finally figured out an arm bolt was loose. They fixed it and all was well. Now I'm in month 6 and the VSC warning light came on with the check engine light. Brought it in to the nearest dealership, they were closed but thought it was ok to keep driving but to get it in as soon as I can get an appointment. Left the dealership, drove about half a mile and pulled in for gas. As soon as I came to a stop there was horrible scrambling noise coming from under the dash and popping noises. Popped the hood (saw nothing but all the plastic covers!) and looked under the car and saw red fluid pouring out. Got towed to the dealership and was informed today that I had a defective radiator and the seal around it blew. This will take a few days to order the part and replace.

But they still don't know why the scrambling noises OR why the VSC light even came on. The car is ONLY 6 months old?!?!?!?

I read these posts and everyone else seems pretty happy! Is anyone else having issues? Also, my windsheild makes a cracking noise every morning on my way to work (just one pop/crack) and my brakes make a slight squeal noise even though they are perfectly fine!! I don't know if I should get rid of this car or not?! I love it but I have already spent way to much time driving loners and in dealerships!

Advice???

Wow ive never heard of an IS having that many problems. I bought mine new in 06 and i havent had a single problem yet.I would expect that many problems out of a 1995 BMW, but not a new Lexus. Maybe this will be its last problem, just think possitive!

About the windshield cracking, ive never heard mine crack. My brakes sqeal a little bit, i can hear it a little with the windows open and thats it.

The VSC and CEL came on when the radiator lost fluid because the ECU put the engine in "limp mode" to help prevent further damage. Fixing or replacing the radiator shouldn't be a big deal.

Others have heard the loud pop/crack sound but not on a daily basis. I'm inclined to think it's in the sunroof but I've only heard it maybe a dozen times in a year and a half.
