I bought a new 2007 GX 470 last week that was loaded with everything but the XM radio package.

I figured that the dealer held off on it so they could make some extra bucks by doing the install (common practice with options).

Anyway, I asked how much to add it and they told me $599. Wow, XM for $599! What a deal? Needless to say, I left without the XM kit.

So I came home, jumped on the net and found it at Sewell Lexus in Dallas for $299. Still no bargain but at least it was 1/2 of what my

dealer wanted. So if your looking for a better deal than most dealers are giving (Yes, you do have to install it) and you wanna save $300.

1. Is it possible to find the vehicle with options I am looking for easily? (especially sports package with KDSS in Titanium Metallic)

2. Can I expect to get the vehicle at invoice price?

3. Any other tips you can offer on handling the transaction?

#1 The rear spoiler is included in 7 of the 11 configuration packages.

It may be hard to find one without it or you may have to exclude some other options to get it that way.

#2 You should get it well below invoice price (especially near the end of the month)

#3 Don't be in a hurry to buy. Make the dealer "work" to get the sale. Get prices on the Internet before you go.

I got the 2007 GX470 as a pre-owned vehicle.

A guy had bought it for his wife the month before (34 days before I took ownership).

Apparently she still wanted a divorce so he brought it back and got an SC convertible.

My dealer called me and told me he had something I should look at. My wife was overdue

for a new car (she was driving a 99' LX470) so I checked it out and it was a perfect fit.

They gave me $17,000 for the 1999 LX470 (105,000 miles on it).

I bought the GX470 for $48,995

I bought the Lexus Platinuim Extended Warranty for $1,850.

Vehicle cost: $33,845

Tax: $2,100 (approximate)

Total: $35,945
