I have broken a total of 8 wheel studs, all on the passenger side. Both front and back. The wheels were torqued properly. I am at a loss here, and frankly, I am worried about my Wife an Son driving around in this thing (LS400) if the wheels are gonna fall off.

Thanks,

Bill

8 studs

?

are the rims original toyota/lexus ones

do you have the proper nuts?

as they have a special tapered edge that toyota likes to use

that might be the reason they are breaking

go to the dealer and order one and look if there is a difference

i would say there is more pressure on that side of the car

which usually happens

another question

is are the studs long enough to get a good grip on the rims and nut

sometimes if they are shorter they will cause an increase in pressure near the end of the nut which has a very low threshold for pressure

are you usign spacers at all for the new rims?

No spacers, but the studs do not go all the way through the lug nut. I sorta thought this was wrong, but that is how I got it. My wife and I saw a set of chrome factory rims on a '98 GS (I think) that I wouldn't mind putting on, if I found a set. Maybe my rims are too thick, and I need longer studs. Any Idea where I could get them? I just keep buying stock Lexus studs.

Thanks,

Bill

they may have a longer set

the offset is bigger on the new rims causing more of it to be taken up by the rim and not the bolt

it should help relive the pressure

there should be a spacer kit from h and r since you are on one of the most popular bolt patterns

basically has newer longer bolts to go on the rims

but the spacer has flush fit nuts that recess into the spacer

it might work if they make it

and there is room for it under the fender
