My trip to Az and back .. the trip back I hit the bad storms in New Mexico and have some damage to GX .. windshield is pitted , grill is chipped not too mention the front bumper , front sides , had lights are pitted some of damage but enough it looks terrible . the chips are down to the metal ..

I'm being told I need a Lexus Certified Repair shop .. Bergstrom was suggested ,

My question is

they will paint the hood , then blend the paint on the fenders replace the grill .. replace the head lights ,

paint the front bumper ,

so does anyone know much about blending the paint ? is the repair worth the job being done right ?

any help appreciated

thanks

Well first of all, make sure you pick a nice body shop that will do a good job. Is insurance paying for it? Never go for the cheap shops.

Secondly, the paint is color coded. Don't worry, they get the mixture code from the VIN of the vehicle.

It's worth it in my opinion if I want my GX to look good and damage free. Good luck

Blending the paint just means they will try to get a exact match with your model year and factory paint batch.

If the insurance company cover the cost of the Lexus body shop, I would just leave it there. If you have to pay out of your own pocket to cover some of the cost, I would shop around, Toyota body shop is a good option.

it's not at the Lexus Dealership it's where they work on Lexus's my Dealer doesn't do the auto body work they send to their auto body shop

so do I need a Lexus auto body shop ? my insurance has already approved the amount..

I'm mad for the Auto Body shop ( Lexus) is pushing me to get parts ordered and get theLexus done .he went as far to ask me for my agent's name so he could acll and tell him it's all been approved .. he's bit too pushing I told him when I was ready I'd call. so what's up with that you think??

nothing like having some one tell you what to do ??@#$@

Obviously they'd be pushing the service faster because you are using their loaner and they want their loaner back ASAP. If you tried to look for other reputable body shops, it might have been better for you. If you went with another body shop, I would think insurance would still get you a rental car, just not a Lexus but it's good enough if you're satisfied with the service.

The body shop that my Lexus dealer recommended just happens to be owned by the Roger Penske who also owns the dealership. Who'd have guessed?

And for the work I needed they were about 50% higher than two other high-end body shops.

Now I'm not getting a lexus for the loaner ..I need to get a rental my insurance will pay for one . Bergstrom has a dealership in another town that does the body shop work for the area (it's own by Berstrom also ) that 'swere I need to go for any body work.. It a nice large body shop compared to the toyoyta dealership ..

I want the work done good.

Whoops for some reason I thought I read a loaner somewhere. My mistake. But anyways, always go for the shop that you think will satisfy you. Trust your instinct, it will guide you to the right shop. ;)

Any body shop that the Lexus dealer use are usually pretty good, but if one body shop gives you a hard time, I would try to find another Lexus certify body shop. Sometimes the smaller body shop will do a very good job too. I usually look around for a body shop that does high end car such as MB, Rovers or BMWs.

Good Luck

update picked up the GX470 ,, not very happy with the grill .had to return to shop they have to reorder they grill has 1-2 inch pits on most of grill .. Yikes not great ..

Just tell me why can't they look over the parts before they put the parts on!! GRRRRRRRRRRR!! they had the Lexus for 8 days , then I was told they got the wrong windshield from the Vin Number had to have a glass guy to look at the windshield , they were sure I had the

rain sensor Lexus told them not, I always thought the Vin number told it all .. guess it's not so true .. but I do have the sensor windshield it's doesn't say Lexus on the windshield .. PPG glass ..

will see how the next grill turns out .
