Transit921 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 i had my car for 8 yrs / never changed it/ some people say change it every year , some say/ if you never changed it before / dont/ cause it will kill ur transmission , whats the rule on it
Agnt Tinkles Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 i change it about 2 years or 20k miles or so... i actually just had it done last week :) do you notice any problems with the shifting? any jerkiness?
mburnickas Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 I do mine every 2 years or 30-40,000 miles. I use Amsoil ATF. I say the fluid, if you never changed it is shot. I would change it since it will clean better.
NeiLtYmE Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 i do it at 2 yr increments too, sometimes sooner. I need to do a flush soon, but i avoid those "power flush" I think you should be fine as long so no one applies any pressure flush machines to it. That would only do harm. how does your fluid look now? 8 Years is long time without changing fluid.
djspawn00 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Some people say if you change it the new fluid will dissolve the gunk thats pretty much keeping your transmission running... I'd say a drain and fill probably won't hurt but it will only replace a small portion of the fluid.
