James Jou
Hi All, I bought a 2000 GS300(225hp,65000mi) last year, the first impression is the engine is quiet, swift, and smooth. It perform definitely better than my 97 V6 CAMRY(200hp) engine. This year I just feel the engine not perform smoothly like before and seems more noisy than my camry. I checked with the dealer they just say it's normal after test drive. Previous maintenance after doing fuel injection and oil change, still feel the same, feel like sometimes the engine has some noise like not quiet lubricated and have some friction voice in gears. Any other factor cause this ?( Like timing belt, spark?). Thanks.

Has the timing belt been changed ? How many miles are on the car now ? Welcome to the club
James Jou
Hi, I did the oil change twice, first(69000mi) go TOYOTA dealer and 2nd(74000mi) go LEXUS for maintenance. Don't know the brand they use. Change cycle is 5000mi, mileage now is 76000mi, 2nd go lexus they charge $130 for oil change and other inspection including belt condition and transmission, cooling system, etc and no recommend to replace. The timing belt not changed yet, maybe it's an reason ? I don't know previous cool flush changed(done by 1st owner)but seems 2nd maintenance didn't report an issue. Transmission fluid level ? I checked the engine oil meter level is OK, how to check the transmission level ? Never done by me (I only know check cooling flush, power steering, brake oil). I found cooling flush is too low and will add on. But is this related to engine noise ?
