94 Es300 1mz-fe Has More Coils Than 96es300 1mz-fe

Funny story this morning my uncle was showing me his engine on his 1994 ES300 1MZ-FE and I noticed he had 6 coils on his engine 3 front, 3 rear. But my 96ES300 has 3 coils in front and not on the rear, is there a difference in the engines or am I missing 3 coils any tips would be greatly appreciated. Toysrme please leave a post on this one.

94's are coil on plug. 95+ is wasted spark. One coil drives two plugs at the same time.

Does that do anything for performance does the 94 have more power because it has more coils?

It was just a redesign to make the rear bank more acessable.
