Frankie_B Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 It's this time of year soon when one gets his snow sports equipment out of the basement again! Hence the question: has anyone seen a ski/snowboard rack attached to a 97-02 gen ES300's? Is it even possible? If so, any general recommendation on what to get, anything I should know about using them? Cheers!
lexusk8 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 When I had my ES during the winter season, I used to stick my old snowboard in the trunk and through the access area to the rear seats. I took advantage of this feature whenever I had to carry long items.

Tried that, but we have 2 snowboards and one set of skis! :cries: So I guess it is technically possible then, i mean to mount such a thing on a Japanese sedan? I've only seen them on top of SUV's and VW wagons :D
steviej Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I have a Yakima rack system that works very well. I can post a pic if you would like. That system as well as Thule should be able to handle your needs as it definately handles 2 17' kayaks for me. steviej
Toysrme Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW! Nasty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The few ski racks I've seen put in a wind tunnel bring the drag co-effecient of a car to the equivilent of a semi-truck. Mind you the surface area is still small, but the cd's are just crazy.

Frankie_B Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 It can't be worse than driving an SUV can it? lol
Toysrme Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 The way I look at it. For the cost of a ski-rack you acn buy my Civic hatch, that still get's 40-45mpg & is a royal POS great for hauling things. LoL!
