backwoods lex
I noticed that the subwoofer in my ES is free air and has no box (come to think of it, I guess all car speakers are that way). Has anyone ever tried to build a makeshift box around the factory sub? I would have already tried it by now, but I'm so busy anymore that it is tough even to find time to wash my car. I don't mean moving the sub somewhere else, just building the box under the speaker in the trunk.
Toysrme
IDK. I think most people are more inclined to go grab like an old kicker CompVR & swap that in, or simply ditch the little thing & put som real subs in there.
TnLex13
I've thought about the same thing Backwoods. I have a Cerwin Vega woofer in my back deck and thought that a small box would tighten the bass up some. I just haven't had enough time. Let us know if you do anything. TnLex13
I've even thought about putting one of those foam baffles around the bottom to at least bounce some of the pressure back into the cone to tighten the bass up a little. You can get them on PartsExpress.com. I have my doubts if it will make any audible difference but who knows.
anthonyiez
not much of an audio guy, but i'm willing to be lexus took the overall trunk size into account when installing a free-air woofer.
