Studs On My Back Passenger Wheel Broke

on fathers day my girlfriend and i were driving on the highway and i felt the car started to shake. i pulled over and i noticed that three on my studs broke, why i dont know. i slow kept driving and went to auto zone. bought only four studs because thats all they had and lug nuts. we were going to her fathers house. as im making the left onto his street one more broke and the wheel locked. i was on the side of the road for 3 1/2 hours putting the studs on.

my question.

can lug nuts come loose on its own?

i only have four studs on the wheel although it suppose to have five. will i be ok for a few days till i can put the last one on?

what are the chances of the new ones breaking?

More than likely the old ones were over torqued and snapped.

Running on 4 for a little while is fine.

Lug nuts only come loose if not tighened properly.

I would get the final one replaced as well and you should be fine.
