howudodat Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 92 LS400, if I start the car with AC in auto, the engine starts and immediately stalls. if I start the car with NO AC, the engine runs fine if I start the AC after the car is running, the engine stalls if I hold the RPM's at ~1500 the engine wont stall, but noticeablly loads down no cold air blows out. I'm thinking the compressor has gone bad, or frozen and is loading down the system. I wanted to see if anyone else has seen this problem before I invest in a new compressor. Peter
nc211 Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 I would also advise to NOT turn it on anymore. If it's got so much load resistance on it now to stall the entire engine, then I can only imagine the amount of strain it's putting on all the other components...aka....drive belt and possibly the timing belt.
blake918 Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Is your IACV functioning properly? Did you run the a/c check: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/air/accodes.html ?
howudodat Posted May 24, 2006 Author Posted May 24, 2006 Is your IACV functioning properly? Did you run the a/c check: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/air/accodes.html ? Ran the tests. No stored codes, but as soon as it kicks on the AC it kills the engine again. Peter
RFeldes Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I've got an idea...take her out on the highway up to about 80 mph and turn on the AC. Whatever falls out the back is part of your problem....LOL "Kompressor Kaput!!"
