akewlguy
Trying to use a FM transmitter. The reception in the city is okay at best so I was wondering if one could hard wire to system? Since the CD changer has "ERR" message every time its over 50 degrees... I guess I need to do something.. Anyone get the changer fixed? Or is there a way to install a new CD changer? Thanks
branshew
Trying to use a FM transmitter. The reception in the city is okay at best so I was wondering if one could hard wire to system? Since the CD changer has "ERR" message every time its over 50 degrees... I guess I need to do something.. Anyone get the changer fixed? Or is there a way to install a new CD changer? Thanks It can be done. I did it about a month ago. I bought a good quality FM modulator. It was fairly easy to install, but the sound quality is a little dissapointing. The sound quality is much better when compared to a wireless FM modulator, but nowhere near that of a CD or straight radio. I have to turn up the output volume on the iPod to near full power and also turn up the stereo past normal to get a good volume level while listening. On occasion I can also hear a little high frequency "white noise" that increases or decreases in pitch correspondingly w/ the RPMs on the car. I think that the tape adaptor actually sounds better (but my tape player no longer works). The best thing would be to replace the head unit w/ one that has an iPod adaptor. IMHO single DIN units are too small and look very out of place in the dash w/ all of that blank plastic around them. I have yet to see anyone put in a double DIN head unit in the dash.
