boogieman
There's a company, ABCMARTS, selling new struts for LS hoods on E-Bay for $40.00/pair plus $9.95 S/H. I thought I'd pass this along for those in need. I've got a pair ordered. I'll post results when I get them on.
boogieman
Well, that was one of the easiest swap-outs ever. a grand total of 15 minits. Couldn't have been easier, and the hood stays up! The struts arrived here, from Florida, in 4 days. too.
wwest
The hood on my 1992 doesn't need to be opened often enough to justify a $50 expenditure to replace a 10 cent wood stick.

sahtt
I bought the same ones about 3 months ago. Easiest and least frustrating repair on my car; besides the slighly incompetent asian lady that took my order over the phone.
boogieman
To each his/her own, but my '93 LS 400 LEXUS deserves better than a stick, wooden or other-wise. Besides that, you need to open the hood, regularly, to check fluids, oil, trans, radiator, windshield washer bottle, brake fluid, etc. It's also a good idea to look everything over, check the belt, look for potential problems, and generally keep the under-hood as clean as possible. Mine is as almost as clean as the outside. My '93 rewards me with a trouble-free and worry-free driving experience in return. Makes the car last longer and be worth more money!
