H8R Proof Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 Almost bought this today but re-considered and decided to ask around here first! Anyone used this? I have just a few minor scratches on my paint...trying to figure out the best way to get rid of 'em. Also bought the Meguiar's Scratch Remover a couple weeks back, but I haven't used it yet, as I'm hesitant. Maybe just a good, professional buffing job will do the trick??
steviej Posted August 2, 2003 Posted August 2, 2003 I used the turtle wax stuff on my old SSEi (metallic dark green). It did not impress me at all. The chipstick was very hard and just reminded me of a very hard candle. The liquid wax in the bottle is pigmented and if you don't get it all off, it comes off on whoever brushes up against you car after you finish. It is more like a coverup than a remover. A very fine cut polishing compound followed by a 3 step clean, wax/polish and seal will be a better investment. I would put more turst in the Meguiar's. steviej
SW03ES Posted August 2, 2003 Posted August 2, 2003 To put it bluntly, its crap. Most everything from Turtle Wax is. What type of scratching do you have, swirl marks etc?
H8R Proof Posted August 4, 2003 Author Posted August 4, 2003 I have a few chip marks on the door panel underneath the right-hand side passenger window - looks like it came from tiny rocks hitting it or something...
SW03ES Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Nothings going to help you with those except touch up paint. I reccomend an Autosharp pen: www.autosharppen.com
H8R Proof Posted August 5, 2003 Author Posted August 5, 2003 Thanks a million SW03ES - I'm definitely going to check out that stuff :)
