1990 Es250 Fuel Delivery Problem

Hey everybody, I need some help on my 1990 ES250 I just got for my 15 birthday. I should probably start with the background on the car, so here it is: We picked this car up from a guy who 6 years ago blew the motor at 120,000 miles and had a BRAND NEW one put it. Approx 10,000 miles later, he decided to get a new car and then let this one sit in his front yard. For the 1st year he said he came out about once a month and started it up and revved up the engine, until one day the battery died. After that he let it sit and it has sat there since I picked it up. Upon removing it from his yard, we had to pull it from its 8-inch holes that the wheel had sunk into (took about 3 hours).

Now, what is wrong: The day I picked it up I through a new battery in it, thinking it would fire right up, but to my surprise nothing happened. Later I found that if I had a friend spray starting fluid directly in the intake it would run, but without it, nothing. So I then decide to look into a fuel line clog. I started by removing the main fuel return line and the deliver line at the motor. I found that the return line was completely clear but the feed line wasn't. From the filter back to the tank I believe there is a clog somewhere.

I am wondering if anyone has had this problem or it if might just be a bad fuel pump (I doubt it though because sending pressured air from a compressor through the feed line from the engine back to the tank, nothing happened). I was also wondering if anyone has ever dropped the tank on one of these and hard it would be for me to do that.

It's not likely a fuel problem itself. Check that the ECU is OK, and that the AFM is outputting a correct voltage on the VS line. It should, in theory, be able to run poorly on just the cold-start injector alone.

Check for spark. Distributor cap & rotor, and to a lesser extint the ignition coil. The tank... I wouldn't be in such a hurry to drop it. Pull out the rear seats if you want access to the housing & fuel lines & pump assembly.

Since the engine will run briefly with starting fluid, the ignition system is probably fine. To verify whether or not gasoline is reaching the engine compartment, an old trick is to loosen the metal fuel line connection at the cold start injector very slightly and then crank the engine with the starter for a second or two to see if fuel leaks / sprays out into the engine compartment. Keep a fire extinguisher on hand just in case of an emergency,Alternatively, you could drain the old, stale gas (a drain plug should be at the bottom of thetank) and then unscrew and pull out the fuel pump assembly to check for a clogged fuel pump pre-filter. This pre filter is called a filter "sock" and it filters fuel before it enters the fuel pump.

You said something about removing the rear seats. Does anyone have a schemadic or diagram on removing them that they can scan in and email to me? or is it fairly easy? THANKS
