It's a 1996 w/147k.

I will obviously get a carfax report and call a dealer to see if its been serviced. It cost 4950 cash or 6950 finance(put 2k down and finance the 4950k).

Anyway what are known problems for this 1st gen? I don't know jack about these cars. I know about the ls1 engine for 4th gen camaros/trans am....the engine to me is bullet proof. So tell me about the engine in this 1st gen.

I guess you were right. I didn't get the 96 GS300 however. Instead I got 2003 GS300. Engine light came on after we put 89 octane in it. The TSC light also came on. We checked the engine for codes and got p0057 02 Sensor circuit low. Dealer agreed to replace sesnsor when I am ready. I'm thinking the code will go away when I put premium gas. I always put 93 octane in my z28 and from chevron majority of the time. Once I got the code after filling up with 93 octane from Citgo. The code stayed for 2 - 3 days. It cleared itself after I put half a tank of 93 from chevron. My explorer was finicky like this also when I had it. It was a 94 and I never saw an engine light. I always filled up with 87 octane, but every few months I would get horrible knocking and pinging outta no where. Soon as I go fill up with 93 from chevron all the crazy knocking and pinging would disappear. Only thing that I don't understand is why the TSC OFF light came on also.
