Window Tint

Hi,

I had my windows tinted 5% all the way around about 3 months

ago and recently noticed there is a small (about pea size) bubble

on the right front passenger window. It does not really bug me

but will the bubble get bigger or spread out?

I do not want to go through the process of scraping

the tint off and retinting the window.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did your tinting job not come with a warranty?

I would take it back and have it redone. Everytime you look at it or notice it, you will hesitate and wonder if it is getting bigger.

I had the windows on my ES300 tinted about a week ago - 5% rear sides and back and 50% front sides. I would have gone 5% all around too except it's illegal here. Actually, any tint on the fronts is illegal here but there's lots on the road that have it done so I'm living dangerously :whistles: The work came with a 3 year warranty. I think any shop worth its salt will offer some kind of warranty. steviej is right. Take it back and have them fix it.

Take it back to the place you had it done......the side window is easy to redo.....if it was the rear window, then that's a big PITA. B)

What they will probly do is just heat it up a bit in the area of the bubble, stick a tiny hole in the bubble with a pin and then smooth it down and press the air out of it.

You could always take a needle or exacto blade and create a micro-size hole to aspirate it. Then you could push it flush.

I'd take it back to where you got it done first before trying to fix it yourself. Let them do it - at no cost to you of course. If they want money to do the repair, then maybe do the repair yourself. At least, that is the approach I would take.

who works there $80 to do the tint.

He seemed to do a great job, as the tint

he used was llumar, and one of their high

quality films. But after the tint was already dry

I have tried the pin trick and it did help a bit,

but the bubble wont go away because it cant

stick to the window because the tint is already dry.

Did you heat the window in that area with a blow-dryer (on low temp) when you tried to get rid of the bubble?

Heating it gently should help the adhesive to restick to the window as you lightly press against the bubble (from the edges to the center) to force the air out. Heat the area where the bubble is from the OUTSIDE of the window, don't apply heat directly to the tint film. This method worked for me on a previous car.

Would the person who installed it be willing to retint that window? I don't think the heating will work any longer......as you said, the tint has dried.
