Gumart1
Hey Steve! Thanks for the e-mail on the recommendation of using Meguiars NXT Cleaner/Wax - I asked the question on another thread topic but wanted to put it where it belongs. I realized that I still have some other Meguiar's products that I believe were recommended me at one time or another. They are: #9 Swirl Remover, #7 Glaze, and #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax. This is for a Pearl White LS with light swirls and a few very light scratches. Do you feel these will be adequate for the job or will the NXT bring better results? Or is the primary difference the length in which the wax will last? Also, will the #9 swirl remover do anything if apply it by hand? I have microfiber towels, buffing pads, and terry cloths. I suppose microfiber would be the best choice, or is one a better applicator than it is a remover?
SW03ES
I think the benefit of the NXT is that it can be used all in one step. In my opinion unless you're using something that PURELY is a glaze you're better off to use a one step by hand. So out of those you could do #7 and then #26. The #9 isn't going to do anything #7 wont do better by hand.
Lexucan
I used Meguiar's NXT Gen. Tech Wax (liquid) a few weeks ago. For the first week the car looked great, but now there is white residue showing up in every tiny surface scratch on the paint surface. Before the scratches were close to invisible, but now they stick out like a sore thumb! What can I do to get rid of all this white stuff? Anything? I've tried cleaning these areas with alcohol on a MF towel but that doesn't work Meguiar's claims that their NXT wax does not leave a white residue....maybe not right away but it sure does after a week or two! slate67
I am no expert but I took the advice of some posters last year and purchased some NXT liquid. I used it all last year and took the winter off. I just used it yesterday (75 degrees and itching to detail) and I am still amazed at the way it looks. I have a 98GS4 Cinnebar Pearl and it looks like I have a 12 inch deep shine. I put it on in straight swipes, all the same direction in the garage and wipe it off with a microfiber towel, again all in straight swipes in the same direction (front to back direction). The microfiber towels do create static electricity, especially on my spoiler, which attracts dust and pollen. I use one of those california mop things that dusts the car and it removes the dust leaving the beautiful shine. I looked at the car last night after I finished and, with thye exception of a few paint chips from road debris, she looks so pretty. I will say that I bought the spray last year that you are supposedly able to use when the car is wet and between waxing and I did not like it at all. It was more difficult to apply and remove evenly without hazing but I have read other posts where they like it. I was just telling a coworker about NXT this morning and I absolutely love it. For the record I am a professional that does not like to spend 8 hours per week detailing. I am lucky if I can get it done 1x/month but the finish I get keeps me coming back to the NXT. I prefer to do it by hand so if I had a buffer, I may have a different opinion. I have no plans on getting a buffer. BTW. It took me just over 3 total hours to wask, wax, wash interior windows, polish the exhaust (whatever they are that are at the end of the muffler pipes), and edge dress the wheels. Have a great day. rwallican
You just can't beat Meguiars! I washed mine yesterday, 1 week after applying the NXT. Then I used the spray wax (to keep it up in between waxings) and it looks like new money!!! My car is black and still looks new. The good thing about using the Meguiars is that it doesn't take long to apply and, it's versatile. If you don't have a lot of time and professional tools, you can still get an excellent shine! 92ls forhundo
i love the nxt too, it goes on easy, comes off easy and really does make my 92 silvermist ls400 look really good. Im not a professional detailer but have always enjoyed doing it to my own cars and without sounding cheesy it is a great all in one thingy. Here in so.cal with the car sitting in the sun most of the time i find that an application last about six weeks with just a rinse and dry once a week in between.
