Anthony Virtuoso Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 My dealer uses 10w30 in the IS 250 when changing oil. I am pretty certain it should be 5w30 as per the oil fill cap. Anyone know for sure?
steviej Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 What does it say in the owners manual? I think you will find both to be acceptable but 5w-30 is more preferable in colder climates. steviej
bartkat Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Recommended viscosity SAE 5W-30 is the best choice forgood fuel economy and good starting in cold weather. If SAE 5W-30 is not available, SAE 10W-30 may be used. However, it should be replaced with SAE 5W- 30 at the next oil change. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...pe=post&id=3751

I contacted the dealer and they said "we were out of 5w30"... long story short I had to go down their to have them replace it. Tri County Lexus in Little Falls NJ incase anyone care to know
