2006 Lx470 Tailgate

Would you rather the LX470 have a hatchback than a tailgate for better cargo area accessability?

i think the tailgate right now looks good on it. I mean its something different from the BMW's, Mercedes, and other cars. Its unique for the vehicle. I mean if you want it to look like a hatch, just open the first half! :)

I would rather have the tailgate the way it is. I can't think of a reason why I woudl want it the other way. The way it is,

It can hold longer things more easily.

Youcan sit on the back of it before Browns games.

If you are parked close to things, you have better clearance.

It gives better access to the roof, if necessary.

If you are towing something, you can still get into the back.

I am sure they have their own reasones for it to be like that, since it makes the car cost more to put two latching doors back there instead of one.

I'd like to have the ambulance doors that are available on the 100's sold internationally.

I like the tailgate, too, since you can sit on it for picnics and while putting on boots without having to shift cargo around to clear a spot to sit.
