BdasLexus03 Posted July 23, 2003 Posted July 23, 2003 does any one have any pictures or at least a website from which they got tips to add on to the exhaust, i kinda find it strange that lexus would let 2 (even when new), rusted looking end of tailpipes to stick out
jzz30 Posted July 23, 2003 Posted July 23, 2003 does it stick out? i thought that it kind of points down under the rear bumper. i thought the whole reason for this is so that the driver forgets that there is even an engine in the car because inside of the car is so quiet with some music on you really cant hear the engine. and when your out side you dont see an exhust. you know what i mean? i think that was toyota`s goal to make the driver forget the car had an engine :magic:
BdasLexus03 Posted July 23, 2003 Author Posted July 23, 2003 well it was nice for lexus to do that , but now i want to customize it just a tiny bit.... and i figured since u sorta see them sticking out a little bit, i might as well make them chrome...... they do bend at the end so i'll have to find some short tips
VMF Posted July 23, 2003 Posted July 23, 2003 i have those crome tips on mine generation II LS, take a look at the pic in the gallery http://us.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/LS/1.../1000015_IMG_or http://us.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/LS/100_0038_001 looks great:)
SW03ES Posted July 23, 2003 Posted July 23, 2003 Yeah, they do look great! I've always missed the chrome exhaust tips from the gen 1 LS400 too. Supposedly the refreshed 04 430 is supposed to have bright tips.
BdasLexus03 Posted July 23, 2003 Author Posted July 23, 2003 does LS 400 have straight pipes at the end, because on 430 they bend at the end.... so ill only be able to put short chrome tips
VMF Posted July 23, 2003 Posted July 23, 2003 they bend at the end on mine, but on gen I they have crome tips from the factory
BG LEX Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 Im not too sure what " do the bend at the end" means but my GEN I has straight tips that just point out with the angels.. its also chrome but a little rusted.. the thing thats bothering me is the right pipe is pushed in more than the left pipe, i think it happened when the previous owner was reversing and the pipe got pushed in... I tried pulling it with my hands but it wouldnt move... any ideas on how id fix this?
jzz30 Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 a completely new oem exhaust :chairshot: well beats me but some chrome polish or metal polish like mothers will take off that surface rust
