  1. WE bought our 1990 LS 400 with 153k miles on it and its stilllllll going strong. right now the problems are A/C - doesnt work, had a guy at CANADIAN TIRE look at it, he said its a lexus and he cant do anything!. so i will go to dealer or independent shop. A/C ECU - black display ... 600 CAD for a new one, searching for one on ebay/used parts/yards ENGINE SHIELD underneith, its 'saging' I have how ever fixed this with advice from fellow members with some screws just recently my REAR BRAKE LIGHT went off.. thats pretty much it, I quite possibly have the most well - kept 1990 model in canada, there are absolutely no engine/tranny problems period! im lucky for that!
  2. SW03ES: I just wanted to say that TODDS article on RUSH MAGAZINE proved what I was saying with the hot wheels and all, men are more into cars so they know more of what the car can handle and so so on.. and yikes I wonder what the pilots were thinking when they saw a car on the runway... :snoooorrrtttt:
  3. I agree with all the posts, I would do what the manual says (min 91 octane) and not listen to what others have done. Im sure most of us are familiar with SUNOCO gas station, has anyone noticed a difference by using their ULTRA 94 gas, with octane level 94, rather than any other gas with a max octane of 91 ???
  4. hmmmmmmmmm Todd im sorry im not too familiar with whats good in terms of coil springs... but everyday I learn more and more! hehe I'm pretty sure you would know more I would
  5. *** NONE OF THESE CARS ARE MINE- THEY ARE THE PROPERTY OF THEIR RESPESTIVE OWNER. I JUST FOUND THESE PICS ON THE NET FOR ALL OF OUR ENJOYMENT! ***
  6. OH MY GOSH those rims are awesome! Elaine did you read the post by VMF titled : I JUST GOT HIT IN THE BACK! I think you'd find it very interesting!
  7. SWO3ES.. your right, someone can love cars and have not a clue about driving one.. but thats really rare dont you think? .. anyways Im not gonna start another debate I can clearly see you have your hands full with Todd! :P :P I just hope that I wont get into any accidents of any type with my LS.. :magic:
  8. WOW great rims TODD!! they look GREATTTTTTTTTTT I would lower it just a wee bit 1" but it looks fine just the way it is even if you didnt lower it!
  9. WOW GUYS, just yesterday I was on this board and it wasnt 5 pages long! this is the hottest board Ive ever seen.. Now as to the debate, Im pretty sure I am the youngest one here, so let me give you my teenage point of view, luckily Ive never been in any crashes, and Im sorry for all that VMF went through, but I must agree with TODD and VMF ( SORRY SWO3ES ! ) Im not going to use any statistics, for my argument but think about what males have been into since they were born?? CARS TRUCKS and ANYTHING THAT HAS WHEELS that MOVES. :D B) We were playing with these hot Wheels since our first birthday, I myself has had around 300 hot wheels.. but obviously this doesnt prove anything, Im just trying to say that men/males/boys have been and will be more into cars than women will ever be... B) I can see a smile on your face after reading this because of after the complex SW03ES (VS) TODDLS400 debate here I am talking about HOT WHEELS finally, I gota say that for any given women (from my viewpoint) its just about getting from A to B and for any given men, its HOW you get from A to B, whether it be speed, luxury, etc. OK SW03ES and TODDLS400 you may continue!!!!
  10. yup i have the same problem with my seat, only 1 side goes down. did anyone go to the dealer and see it is/was to fix it? im not really a do-it-myself- on this lexus because its nothing like any other car, even installing an after market CD changer took 3.5 hours because of the fuel tank in the way
  11. ah thats too bad, but oh well its still the worlds best car now and in 1990!! thanks for the quick response guys
  12. what about the 1990 models??? do we have the LOCK/ automatically when put into drive ?? or the windows roll up automatically when we lock or turn the car off id really like it if the 90 has these abilities..
  13. about the black Ac/ display, I have that too.. you should look at JIM WALKER's post, i think on page 2.. Im currently trying to decide if I should just go to dealer and get it over with or search for a used one at a salvage yard.. 1000 CAD vs . 300,400 cad ?
  14. Im not too sure what " do the bend at the end" means but my GEN I has straight tips that just point out with the angels.. its also chrome but a little rusted.. the thing thats bothering me is the right pipe is pushed in more than the left pipe, i think it happened when the previous owner was reversing and the pipe got pushed in... I tried pulling it with my hands but it wouldnt move... any ideas on how id fix this?
  15. Mine has the NAKAMICHI system but it isnt at all impressive.. theres hardly any bass at low volume.. but the sound quality is good. I dont want to upgrade to 3rd party so I guesss itll do me fine
  16. I gota Generation 1 up here in Toronto... Im pretty sure Im one of the very very rare 1990' models in CANADA, bcuz we got the LS in 91', mine was actually driven here from the US, where the owners re-located. hehe Im happy knowing no one else has my car or year model at least
  17. :whistles: I'm a pretty tall guy, ( I'm 6'4 ) and I am very very comfortable in the leather seat of my LS... I played around with the seat height/lumbar/vertical settings until my hair didnt touch the ceiling :D ... I dont slide on the seat but every one else does, i know my girlfriend goes flying... :whistles: ... ( thats why I like turning to the right at high speed ......... ) ;)
  18. wow thats an amazing site... im gonna take some notes to learn more about the 1UZFE :D
  19. :P SKperformance, yeah I just added "Toronto" after I saw your location Im glad too because of the re-assurance. Thanks to the community for helping out yet another newbie :magic: ( well im not sure if Im still a newbie but oh well )
  20. :D I locked myself in the car with the remote on the key, and the red light went on, I waited 1 minute, and i tried pressing the "unlock" button on the controls but it didnt do anything, which is a good sign, so then I unlocked it manually and BINGO... the alarm went on! now i know that it is funtional! Thanks for all your help gentlemen, -> SKPERFORMANCE, your in Missisauga, Im in North York, what a coincidence
  21. Hello once again guys.. have yet another question... the security system APPEARS to be working fine, the light goes ON and OFF like it should, but once I attempted to "shake" the car, and nothing happened... I obviously dont want to brake my windows to find out if the security system is actually working, I was wondering if there is a "diagnostic" or some way of turning the system on?? just anything that will re-assure me that its working? I should also mention that when my friend bought a new car, I took him there with my LS, and the security alarm went on just by lifting the rear-door handle, while the car was locked... was this the work of supernatural forces? ( A Lexus in a GM Dealer? ) :P :P and this was the first/last time I ever ever saw my security system working. Any help will be greatly appreciated!! thanks so much
  22. yeah I was wondering if GS, SC rims fit on LS too.. if they do.. I really would like the new thin-spoke all chrome GS rims on my LS... They look soo nice..
  23. HEY thanks for all your help guys. I'm going to go to my local car shop (Canadian Tire) and see what they have.. Ill post some pictures once I have them in! Thanks again!
  24. Hey guys.. I was wondering how hard it is to take out the standard 9004 bulbs and put some "ultra-wite-lite" or "xenon light bulbs" in our cars?... i thought it was a simple procedure just like in the manual, but im not to sure if i want to do it myself also, since we dont have the clear headlights is it a good idea, does it look good or will it look too "gangsterish" because the last thing i want to do is ruin the original lexus look B) any thoughts will be appreciated! thanks!
  25. WAY TOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXPENSIVE... we just recently paid about $369 US for 2 keys.. (im in Canada so I converted the price to US)
