Windshield Wiper Fluid Changed For Winter

Recommended Posts

hi guys,

i need to drain my windshield wiper fluid and put in the winter stuff. does anyone know if there's a drain plug for the resevoir? if so where is it located?

i am using rain-x bug remover which has alcohol in it. as such, i did not think it would freeze but it did. the temperature was in the teens last night in nyc and when i depressed my windshield fluid squirter button it wouldn't come out. it froze!

so, please let me know. thanks. B)

If the resevoir had alcohol in it then it probably didn't freeze... but then I might be wrong... I'm thinkin your lines might have had some fluid in it, and those froze. But then again if it is frozen............................ how do you plan on draining it?

........................Just get some hot water and pour it in the resevoir........

Some hardware stores sell inexpensive plastic handheld pumps that you spin like a fishing reel. They are perfect for tasks like this. I bought one 25 years ago. Or you could just syphon the fluid out (assuming it's not frozen) with a length of plastic tube. You live in NYC - don't you know how to steal gas? LOL.
