poorguy
I'm leaking oil and its accumulating between the transmission and the engine oil pan... thinking it is the main rear seal that everyone is talking about.... is this rear seal an engine seal or a transmission seal? Questions: 1) what other parts should I change while the mechanic is changing the rear seal? (transmission mounts? engine mounts? etc... part #?s... ) 2) anybody recommend any local mechanics in SF bay area? 3) anyone have lexus part #'s for these parts so I can go to my dealer and buy them? Thanks! I appreciate it. :) 1993 Lexus SC
AWJ
Looks like the front tranny seal. 1. Hard to say for sure. Replace any o-rings n gaskets n stuff. Mounts are case by case. I doubt a mount would need replacement but it is not impossible I guess. They can usually be refurbished if they are not broken or rusted through. 2. No. Sorry. Don't know any. 3. No part #'s. Call Napa or the dealership for that info.
jzz30
try and smell the oil and see if the its trans or engine oil. if its engine oil which i think it looks like is being blown on to the trans from the engine under cover because its dirty the engine oil pan gasket could be out and in the worst case the crankshaft seal on the rear of the engine could be out

Lextreme
Hard to say, you are seeing the end result. Oil will drain to the lowest point. It could be bunch of things. I would say, clean up the oil with Gunk and left the car up and start the engine and let it run and monitor the leak. Good luck
jzz30
if your going to clean the engine you can put a dye in the oil and look at it with a UV lamp
