Obdii Catalytic Converter

I have a 1995 LS400. My check engine light came on and I had a diagnostic performed which said both Cats were bad, but the O2 sensors were still working.

I wanted to save some money and replace the cats myself. When I go online to try and find a good deal on these cats, I can't seem to find any. My problem is I live in California and it says "Illegal to sell ODBII in CA."

Any suggestions.

I would find out why the cats went.

Cats never die of old age ,they are always murdered.

So you mean running too rich or to lean. Some control is not doing what it is supposed to be doing?

I will have to look into that, but in the meantime I need to get my car smog checked and I am not sure if it will pass. I saw that some people posted issues with faulty sensor readings and they just reset the light to take the test. Not sure if I can get away with that in CA. Same thing happened to an old Ford Windstar I owned. Even though I reset the check engine light, their sensors read it and they wouldn't check my car.

So, I will still need to get new cats. Any recommendations?
