misterlok Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Have a 99 ES300. Lately when I start it the engine's been whining loudly and it sounds like it's going to die. When I open the hood up, I can hear a clicking sound coming from the engine. The weird behavior started happening since the weather has gotten colder, but even after driving it around for a while, the sound is still present. Any ideas?
SKperformance Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Have you checked any of your fluid levels?
lexusk8 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Check your battery and alternator. Any service shop (i.e. Midas, Monro, etc.) should be able to do some testing for those things.
Toysrme Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Sick your head down into the engine bay & triangulate the position of the noise. Otherwise we can't really help you, we're all just guessing. Whining can be any of a thousand things rotating, but most likely a belt, or something belt driven. Ticking could be anything moving that isn't lubricated.
