92lexus300ak Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Whenever I drive through even the shallowest of water puddles with a splash, the A/C light blinks and the cool air ceases (fan still blows, I guess the compressor shuts off?). It is a 92 ES300. Help?
SKperformance Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 2 things you may have a slipping belt causing the a/c to think the compressor is locked up that is why the light blinks to indicate that the second is maybe a wire for the compressor lock is getting shorted out next time the puddle thing happens listen to see if the belt is squealing
steviej Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 yep, what he said. sj you can try this in your driveway. Open the hood while the car is running with the AC on. With a squirt water bottle, TRICKLE some water on the belt. See if the AC light flickers. Listen for the slippage of the belt. It may be as simple as a new belt is needed or the tension needs to be adjusted.
SKperformance Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 yah that can work very easy just don't spray it at the alternator as they are a bit touchy
