CLightning Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I've got a leftover recharge kit by K&N, you think it would hurt to use it on a foam airfilter? Any alternatives from buying 'special' oil made for foam? Like 30w oil perhaps?
SKperformance Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Foam filters use more of a viscous liquid rather than a light fluid that K&N filters use
50trimdsm Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 I agree. If it doesnt call for oil, dont oil it. Most foam filters are nonmaintenance and require replacement after a certain number of miles.
steviej Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 becareful of what you oil the foam filters with. Use what is specified if anything is called for at all. When in doubt read the destructions.....I mean instructions. some combinations of oil and foam will result in the foam dissolving or degrading rapidly. steviej
GRAND_LS 4 Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I wouldn’t touch any fram filter with a 10foot poll. Beware man. They rubber part of the edges separate, and all kinds of dust and particles enter the engine. I would think twice before using a fram filter. Google it up, and see for yourself.
