scottat37 Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 On occasion my 1998 GS300 will not start up right away. I have to keep the starter engaged for about 30seconds then the car will finally start. It fells like its getting no spark or fuel. Once it starts it runs fine. This seems to happen when I fill up the car with gas or when its low on gas (1/4 tank or less). Is there any sensors or relays that I should look at?
Lkevon Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 you should have the charging system checked out. most no-start conditions are linked to the charging system and go from there!!!!!
SKperformance Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 if the car is turning over i am not sure it might be a charging system problem at all more than likely it is the fuel pump pressure when you turn the key forward and listen carfully before the key is turned to start so you hear the whrrr of the fuel pump? also if it doesn't start right away try just turning the key forward to the on ,not start position a few times and leaving it in position a couple of secs and see if it helps if so then it is a delivery of fuel problem probably the pump but maybe the filter but reading it again you mention it is after refueling possible over filling of the gas tank loss of vacum pressure try the fuel pump first
